Ecosystem Relationships
Ecosystem Study Jams Video:
In an ecosystem rain is a huge factor for keeping it healthy. It is an abiotic factor that works with biotic factors to keep the ecosystem alive. Plants, animals, and bacteria are just a few examples of things that keep the ecosystem alive. Producers, consumers and decomposers all have special jobs to work together. So everything in an ecosystem is very important for keeping a stable ecosystem.
Changes in Ecosystem Study Jams Video:
Both people and nature affect the balance of an ecosystem. Everyday little things are changing in an ecosystem because of succession. Secondary succession happens faster than primary succession. Secondary succession helps an ecosystem fight back from changes.

Food Chains Study Jams:
Food chain is the feeding relationship between animals. In it there are different levels; they are producers, herbivores, carnivores, and decomposers. Energy gets passed through different levels on the food chain. Producers make their own energy and consumers get their energy from producers. Herbivores, Carnivores, and Decomposers are all consumers.

Food Webs Study Jams Video:
More than one animal eats the same thing. Omnivores eat meat and plants but carnivores only eat meat. Food webs are the complex network of food chains in an ecosystem. I two animals eat the same thing, they are apart of the same food web. A food web links many food chains together. The food web lets you see how all the chains are connected.
Symbiosis Study Jams Video:
Symbiosis is the relationship between two animals. Parasitism only benefits one organism and hurts the other one. There are good symbiosis too. For instance, in commensalism one organism is benefited and the other is not harmed. Also, Mutualism is where both organisms benefit. This is the best type of symbiosis.
Biomes Study Jams Video:
A biome is a major ecosystem made up of different habitats. On Earth, there are only six biomes but they are totally different. they are: Taiga, Tundra, Deciduous Forest, Tropical Forest, Desert, and Grassland. They all have a unique climate. We live in the deciduous forest so we are the only biome to have four seasons. The tropical rainforest is warm and the Taiga has two seasons. The Tundra is cold and the Desert is really hot and dry. Lastly, the grassland has grains like corn with a lot of animals.
Population Growth Study Jams Video:
A limiting factor helps control the population of something. Population growth is affected by many things including hunting. Many species today are endangered and if one comes extinct, the food chain would fall apart. We can help population growth by conservation.

Saltwater Ecosystem
Freshwater Ecosystem
Name a producer/consumer relationship in freshwater ecosystem-The producer is seaweed and the consumer is fish.
Name a predator/prey relationship in freshwater ecosystem- The predator is salmon and the prey is small fish. Name a parasite/host relationship in freshwater ecosystem- Bacteria is a parasite to fish. |
Terrestrial Ecosystem
Name a producer/consumer relationship in terrestrial ecosystem-Grass is the producer and grasshopper consumer.
Name a predator/prey relationship in terrestrial ecosystem- The predator is the snake and the prey is the mouse. Name a parasite/host relationship in terrestrial ecosystem- Bacteria is a parasite to rabbits. |
Biodiversity is the variety of life in an ecosystem. Without it, food chains or webs wouldn't occur and it would not be possible for much life.
Things you may wonder:
Where does the energy for all ecosystems originally come from?
All energy comes from the sun.
Why do all organisms in an ecosystem depend on producers?
They depend on producers because producers have the energy and it is where the food chain starts.
How does a food web help show feeding relationships in an ecosystem?
It shows what animals eat the same foods.
